4 Must-Know, Simple Travel Tips

Summer’s coming and with Memorial Day weekend around the corner many have vacations on their mind.
Want to get away and avoid the green guilt that can sometimes accompany traveling?
Here’s 4 simple ways:
1. Book a Green Seal Certified hotel. They’re more prevalent than ever, and if you do a quick search can likely find one in your area. Even if the hotel isn’t officially certified take the time to inquire about environmental initiatives. What cleaning products do they use? Energy saving measures? Any environmentally-friendly amenities? Etc. etc.
2. Carpool – if you’re headed out of town with friends or family aim to take as few vehicles as possible. You’ll save gas money and cut down on harmful fuels.
3. Shop and eat locally at “green” businesses. Most destinations boast a few eco-friendly restaurants and boutiques. These are two of my favorite aspects to enjoy when traveling! Don’t get stuck at a chain restaurant you could go to any day. Plan ahead and you’ll support the area’s economy and hopefully enjoy tasty grub and memorable purchases with a smaller footprint.
4. Walk or use public transportation. You’ve heard it before, but this bares repeating. If you’re doing lots of exploring the driving can add up quickly. Plus, you’re on vacation – relax and get out of the seat behind the wheel.
